Dear IndyCar Racing Family,

Over the past eighteen years I have been allowed to experience a great racing family. I have had the opportunity to minister to every aspect of this racing community. It has been a privilege that I have taken to heart and have been honored to serve in my capacity. The time has come for me to resign as Director and Chaplain with IndyCar Ministry. I feel that this decision is best for me, for my family and for the ministry. Through my prayers and thoughts God has helped me to come to this decision.

I am very thankful to God and want to clearly express my gratitude to the IndyCar Family and the IndyCar Ministry Board of Directors for their support and encouragement over the years while allowing me to serve this community for Christ. I have many wonderful memories and experiences and I pray that my impact has been positive for IndyCar but more importantly for our Lord and Savior. My most fond memories have been those I have had the privilege to introduce to Christ and then baptize. Other memories have been the numerous individuals I have been able to use my counseling toolbox to help through difficult times. The establishment of the Indy 500 Breakfast and the Johnny Rutherford Award has also been significant. This past season we had some firsts with the public chapel service and public Catholic mass at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. And the three outreach booths at tracks were great as well. I pray that the established “Winner Circles” in the team garages will continue as they help our teams go deeper into their spiritual journey.
I will always have the IndyCar racing family in my prayers and thoughts. God is going to do great things through the IndyCar Ministry. Pray for David Storvick as he continues to minister with ICM. Pray for the IndyCar Ministry Board of Directors as they transition through this time. Pray for me as I seek out a new focus and work.

Thank you and Godspeed,

Bob Hills
